Congressman Bass's support of an Imperial Presidency

This is an email I sent to Congressman Bass tonight:

Dear Congressman Bass,
Although I realize that political pressures can be tough to resist, the recent passage of the House resolution condemning the release of information about the "secret" tracking of financial information is just ridiculous! It is totally laughable, especially since the White House already made at least two public statements regarding this "secret" effort. Take a look at http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/09/20010924-4.html and http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/09/20010924-1.html.

Just remember, the public knows what is going on and we know that you are being jerked around by the likes of Karl Rove. This is absolutely outrageous! Are you thinking about our future as a nation? I am, and when I think about what the "All the President's Men" are doing, what I see is the attempt at a bloodless coup in this country. How much power do you really think a President of this country can really have?
